Our Story
The Snug Bookshop project started in 2018 with the purchase of an old beautiful, miniature, topless, double-decker bus that was refurbished beautifully. The plan was to use it both in local school playgrounds around the villages and in summer family festivals. It’s a fun vehicle to promote literacy and emotional resilience through small group work with children inside the bus.
The Snug Children’s Bookshop
The Snug Children’s Bookshop, the first shop opened in 2020. A specialist children’s shop with not only the full range of baby books to young adult books, environmental, space and science etc. Also included was a range of books to support children and their families going through difficult times, loss, long-term illness, mental health emergencies, learning needs at school, and much more. These books are of particular interest to Rose whose first career was a child protection social worker in the inner city of London and Dublin. Latterly specialising as a barrister in private practice in various proceedings, but with a special interest in representing young people and advocating for their rights and needs against the State.
In 2022, The Snug Bookshop moved to a larger space and now holds the full complement of adult and children’s books.
