The Snug Bookshop Events
The Snug Bookshop provides summer indoor & outdoor book fairs linked to your theme.
We can access any book and range of books to support your event.
The Snug was thrilled to be invited by a private fostering agency, to provide a specialist book fair on Fostering & Adoption, Self-esteem and mental health for foster parents, adopters, staff and children.
The Snug was proud to be picked over Waterstones, as the bookshop that supported the Spectrum Neurodiversity -3 day event in Central Milton Keynes, March 2025 . Providing books on ADHD, Autism, dyslexia and dyspraxia.
The Snug is regularly invited by a wide number of primary & secondary schools in Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire & Northamptonshire, to provide diverse book fairs with 1:1 support on hand. The Snug supplies new books across the entire children’s book spectrum, from true stories of heroic pursuits in Kilimanjaro to Muslim culture, traditions & style.
The Snug proudly supports children who need patient 1:1 support to develop a love of reading. This can be as much to do with past traumas impeding them as genetic difficulty . A number of schools have brought reluctant readers in to the shop to spend time with me. We talk it out in a fun, low-key way, aiming for them to leave with a book they’ve picked .
The Snug provides support to authors with signings, book launches and large school events.

Village School Federation – Literacy visit for Wellbeing day-22nd May 2026
Newton Blossomville C of E school is one of the six village schools around Olney. We were invited to offer a well-being through literacy morning. It was great fun reading with the children. I enjoyed taking the children through themes in the books that enhanced awareness of the core resilience and moral courage we all need to thrive in our lives. Plus, I met Eddie, who told me he was, ” the biggest maths fan ever”, and wanted a fun maths book!
RAF Tempsford Museum Event 30th/ 31st May 2026
The Snug was delighted to be the bookshop at the RAF Tempsford Museum, Sandy in May. The event was celebrating the courage, resilience and discipline of both the ground teams in England who conveyed the agents dropped into Europe, and the agent’s hair-raising accounts of the missions they undertook, where they personally risked their lives to work within the resistance networks in Europe through World War 2.
In brief, the Special Operation Executive was a covert agency within the British govt. A separate branch from the Special Intelligence Service, (now MI6). The SOE were trained in bomb-making, intelligence, combat and sabotage. Their role was to convey vital and current intelligence from the ground in Europe back to London whilst actively obstructing the advance of the Nazis, The SOE were briefed by reply of their particular missions, to subvert and delay Nazi attack plans and their occupation. The Museum was proud to share they had recently received planning permission to extend their facilities.
The event showcased the key artefacts agents relied on, the clothes, the wireless coder for sending and receiving messages that they had to carry on their person and on their bikes. The homemade model planes that flew the agents by night. Lectures about the various services, agencies, films etc The museum are fundraising to bring forward more of the incredible stories and artefacts from this covert period
to the public gaze. My role was the history books, the agent’s accounts, the training manuals and much more.
